Commonly Asked Questions:
Is Everything at Batch Mead Gluten Free?
Yes! Mead and hard cider are both naturally gluten free! We do offer some meads that are aged in whiskey or other grain alcohol barrels - very small trace amounts of these spirits do seep into the barrel aged mead. We also note what barrel (if any!) the mead was aged in.
Where is my order coming from?
We make all meads & ciders, do all bottling, labeling, packing and shipping from our Temecula, CA tasting room & meadery. Our address is 42225 Remington Ave #A25 Temecula, CA 92590.
WHO ARE YOU GUYS? (C’MON TELL US EVERYTHING)
Batch Mead opened in Nov of 2019 in Temecula, we’re owned and operated by three people!
Derek & Danielle Busch (that’s us!) have been enjoying mead for the last 10 years. Derek has created over 300 fermentations of mead and hard cider.
Derek started his journey brewing with a batch of Riesling wine that Danielle gave him as a Christmas gift back in 2013. This spurred his love of brewing and he started his first batch of mead. Danielle’s brother Bryan (a professional magician!) helped get Derek started with brewing, bottling, running the tasting room, and deliveries!
At Batch Mead we love locally sourced honeys, apples and other ingredients. We focus on small batches to keep taps rotating and deliver delicious meads and hard ciders. So wave 'hi' if you ever stop in!
Mead FAQs
How Do You Drink Mead?
Mead can be enjoyed in a variety of ways:
- For sparkling mead, serve chilled at about 45°F (refrigerator temperature).
- Still mead can be enjoyed at room temperature or chilled.
- Feel free to experiment by mixing mead with spirits, ice, or mixers—but we think it’s best enjoyed straight!
How Do You Store Mead?
- Keep unopened bottles in a cool, dry place (like a wine fridge or a closet) away from sunlight or fluctuating temperatures.
- We recommend drinking our cans within 6 months and bottled meads within 1-2 years.
- Once opened, mead is best enjoyed within 1-3 days. Use a bottle stopper and keep it in the fridge to preserve its carbonation and freshness.
Can mead age?
Yes! Like wine, mead can age beautifully. However, we recommend enjoying it within a year of purchase for the best flavor.
