Yes they did! They didn't discover mead, but they did trade with merchants in Asia where they learned how to make mead. They typically drank meads that were between 4-8% alcohol and some historians believe they saved mead for special occasions.

Sweet Meets Heat
Side by Side Bottle Share — I took a bottle of From the Ashes to a bottle share with several friends at the recent Bluebonnet Brewoff Conference. I also had a bottle of Moonlight Meadery’s “Smolder” which is another Raspberry/Chipotle mead. Both meads were very good, and in our side by side comparison of about ten or twelve participants the overwhelming consensus favored From the Ashes in terms of flavor, balance, and even the beautiful color and clarity. An excellent mead that brings the heat and sweet perfectly.

I have only tried around 10 different commercial meads and this is my first small batch I’ve gotten my hands on. I just started making my own mead this year and have really fallen in love with the craft and traditional aspects of the brew. These meads have been hands down my favorite. I’ve tried 3 or 4 so far after ordering a couple collections and the Golden Butter Bee (amazing). All have been absolutely delicious. I only wish the bottles were bigger because my husband and I end up fighting over the last glass! 😂 So far the lychee flavor in King of the Seas is my favorite!! Will definitely be ordering more once I’m out!

I absolutely love Batch Mead! I have yet been dissatisfied with any of the mead. Some I like more than others, but so far, all have been delicious. I live in Kentucky, so I have to order it online. It is always packaged well and is delivered in a timely manner. I haven't found a better tasting mead yet!

And it is awesome! The berry flavors are very mellow and sweet. I may like this one more than the pomegranate mead I reviewed earlier. I highly recommend it!
